Let \(A\) be an Archimedean vector lattice. A bilinear map \(\varphi:A\times A\rightarrow B\), where \(B\) is another vector lattice, is said to be orthosymmetric if \( a\wedge b=0\) implies \(\varphi\left( a,b\right) =0\). Moreover, the bilinear map \(\varphi\) is said to preserve disjointness whenever \( a\wedge b=0\) implies \(\left| \varphi\left( a,c\right) \right| \wedge\left| \varphi\left( b,c\right) \right| =\left| \varphi\left( c,a\right) \right| \wedge\left| \varphi\left( c,a\right) \right| =0\). The main result of the paper under review asserts that any orthosymmetric disjointness-preserving bilinear map with domain \(A\times A\) is order-bounded if and only if \(A\) is hyper-Archimedean (that is, the quotient vector lattice \(A/I\) is Archimedean for any order ideal \(I\) in \(A\)). The case where \(A\) is a semiprime \(f\)-algebra is studied separately.
