The study of cyclic codes over \({\mathbb{Z}}_{p^e}\) can be reduced to investigate ideals in \(\mathrm{GR}(p^e,m)[u]/\langle u^{p^k}-1\rangle\) where \(\mathrm{GR}(p^e,m)\) denotes the Galois ring of characteristic \(p^e\) with \((p^e)^m\) elements; (see for instance [\textit{S. T.\ Dougherty} and \textit{Y. H.\ Park}, Finite Fields Appl. 13, No. 1, 31--57 (2007; Zbl 1130.94333)]). Correcting an error in the representation of self-dual ideals of length \(p^k\) over \(\mathrm{GR}(p^2,m)\) by matrix equations in an earlier paper by the present authors [Finite Fields Appl. 14, No. 3, 834--846 (2008; Zbl 1175.94124)], \textit{R.\ Sobhani} and \textit{M.\ Esmaeili} [Finite Fields Appl. 15, No. 3, 387--391 (2009; Zbl 1165.94010)] provided the correct matrix equation and classification. In the present paper, with the aid of Genocchi numbers, the authors find the number of solutions for these matrix equations and hence determine the number of self-dual cyclic codes of length \(p^k\) over \(\mathrm{GR}(p^2,m)\).
