    A Banach space is weakly sequentially complete if every bounded sequence \((x_k)\) in \(X\) which weak\(^\ast\) converges to a point in \(X^{\ast\ast}\) actually converges to a point in \(X\). If \(d(\mathrm{clust}_{X^{\ast\ast}}(x_k),X)\) measures the distance from the weak\(^\ast\)-cluster points of \((x_k)\) to \(X\), and \(\delta(x_k)\) is the diameter of this set of cluster points, then being weakly sequentially complete can be rephrased as saying that \(\delta(x_k)=0\) implies that \(d(\mathrm{clust}_{X^{\ast\ast}}(x_k),X)=0\). A Banach space satisfies a quantitative version of weak sequential completeness if there is a constant \(C\) such that the inequality \[ d(\mathrm{clust}_{X^{\ast\ast}}(x_k),X) \leq C \delta(x_k) \] holds for all bounded sequences in \(X\). The authors provide an example of a weakly sequentially complete Banach space which does not satisfy this quantitive property. This example is separable, has the Schur property, and it is 1-complemented in its bidual. They also consider similar quantitive analogues of weak sequential completeness where the distance and the diameter are measured in different ways. Namely, if \(\tilde{\delta}(x_k)\) is the infimum of the diameters of the sets of weak\(^\ast\) cluster points of the subsequences of \((x_k)\), and \(\hat{d}(\mathrm{clust}_{X^{\ast\ast}}(x_k),X)\) is the Hausdorff non-symmetrized distance, then the inequality \(\tilde{\delta}(x_k)\leq 2\hat{d}(\mathrm{clust}_{X^{\ast\ast}}(x_k),X)\) holds for every sequence in a Banach space, and the converse \(2\hat{d}(\mathrm{clust}_{X^{\ast\ast}}(x_k),X)\leq\tilde{\delta}(x_k)\) holds in \(L\)-embedded spaces.
