The authors use asymptotic analysis techniques to justify the Fano resonance phenomenon in a 2D waveguide with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. Using symmetry and the Fano resonance, examples of geometries, where the energy of an incident wave propagating through the structure is completely transmitted or completely reflected, are constructed. Numerical simulations are included.
