On a positivity conjecture in the character table of \(S_n\) (Q668042)

This paper answers partially a conjecture of the author about the Schur positivity for the power sums basis for a special family of partitions. These results are based on the study of the intervals in the reverse lexicographic order on integer partitions and the Frobenius characteristic of the conjugacy action of the symmetric group. Moreover, they analyze the contribution of each shape by studying all the possible cases. Finally, they also present some consequences related to the twisted conjugacy action and to arbitrary subsets of conjugacy classes, including some conjectures for future work.
