In this paper the authors study the Higgs field associated to any semistable bundle and apply it to investigate the genus 2 case. This is a generalization of Hitchin systems, ACI, introduced by \textit{N. Hitchin} [Duke Math. J. 54, 90-114 (1987; Zbl 0627.14024)]: Algebraically completely integrable (ACI) Hamiltonian systems where the motion is linear on the Prym variety of a spectral curve and the phase space is the cotangent bundle to the moduli space of stable bundles over a fixed Riemann surface.
