Casacuberta's questions in extending localization functor (Q674665)

This paper gives two results concerning localizations of CW-complexes at sets of primes. Let \({\mathcal T}_0\) be the category of based connected CW-complexes, let \({\mathcal H}_0\) be its homotopy category, and let \(E:{\mathcal H}_0\to{\mathcal H}_0\) be a localization functor induced by a continuous functor \(F: {\mathcal T}_0 \to {\mathcal T}_0\). The first result says that the class of \(E\)-local complexes cannot be exactly the class of simply connected rational complexes. The second result says that, if \(E\) extends the localization of nilpotent complexes at a set of primes \(P\), then the \(E\)-local complexes are \(P\)-local in the sense of \textit{C. Casacuberta} and \textit{G. Peschke} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 339, 117-140 (1993; Zbl 0786.55007)]. The results give partial answers to questions posed by \textit{C. Casacuberta} [CRM Proc. Lect. Notes 6, 1-22 (1994; Zbl 0823.55009)].
