Motivated by some previous works by \textit{K. L. Cooke} and \textit{J. Wiener} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 99, 265-297 (1984; Zbl 0557.34059); Lect. Notes Math. 1475, 1-15 (1991; Zbl 0737.34045)]\ and \textit{S. M. Shah} and \textit{J. Wiener} [Int. J. Math. Sci. 6, 671-703 (1983; Zbl 0534.34067)], on retarded and advanced differential equations, the authors study the existence of almost periodic solutions for a class of neutral differential equations with piecewise constant argument. More precisely, they consider systems of equations of the form \[ y'(t) = A(t)y(t) + B(t)y([t]) + A_{0}(t)y(t-[t]) + A_{1}(t)y'(t-[t]) + f(t), \;t \in \mathbb{R}, \] and \[ y'(t) = A(t)y(t) + B(t)y([t]) + A_{0}(t)y(t-[t]) + A_{1}(t)y'(t-[t]) + g(t,y(t),y([t])), \;t \in \mathbb{R}, \] where \([t]\) denotes the greatest-integer function. The proofs are based on the properties on almost periodic sequences and the hypotheses assume basically that the coefficients and the nonlinear terms of the previous equations are almost periodic and that equation \[ y'(t) = A(t)y(t) + B(t)y([t]) \] admits an exponential dichotomy.
