A well-known theorem of \textit{R. M. Solovay} [Proc. Tarski Symp. Int. Symp. Honor Alfred Tarski, Berkeley 1971, Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 25, 365-372 (1974; Zbl 0317.02083)] states that if \(\lambda\) is regular and if \({\mathcal P}_\kappa\lambda\) carries a normal ultrafilter \(U\), then the function \(\sup:{\mathcal P}_\kappa\lambda\to\lambda\) is one-to-one on an element of \(U\). The author generalizes this to the situation where \({\mathcal P}_\kappa\lambda\) carries a strongly normal \(\lambda\)-saturated ideal. The paper concludes with some examples of minimal ideals in the Rudin-Keisler order on \({\mathcal P}_\kappa\lambda\).
