This is an excellent exposition of extension theory which studies the problems of extending maps from topological spaces to metric simplicial complexes or CW complexes. Recently emerging from cohomological dimension theory, its initial goal was to attempt to unify this algebraic branch of dimension theory with the classical one. However, it has developed into much richer theory and this is mostly due to the author.
