To calculate the homotopy groups of symmetric spaces, the Bott map was defined to be a map from the unreduced suspension of a compact symmetric space into a second compact symmetric space [\textit{R. Bott}, Ann. Math., II. Ser. 70, 313-337 (1959; Zbl 0129.15601); \textit{B. Harris}, ibid. 76, 295-305 (1962; Zbl 0118.18502)]. The present author describes the effects of the homomorphism induced from the Bott map on complex \(K\)-theory.
