The importance of degenerated solutions to moment and interpolation problems is well-known: they are extremal points in natural parameterizations, and hence convex combinations of them give all solutions. The interpolation of analytic functions in the upper half plane with values also in the upper half plane leads to a nonnegative Pick matrix: \(A=\left[{w_i-\overline w_j\over z_i-\overline z_j}\right]\). The author studies with traditional methods (some going back to Pick) the case when \(\text{det}(A)=0\). For related and complementary topics see \textit{J. A. Ball}, \textit{I. Gohberg} and \textit{L. Rodman} [Interpolation of rational matrix functions (1990; Zbl 0708.15011)].
