Maps between Jacobians of modular curves (Q676283)

Maps between Jacobians of modular curves have, in some cases, simply understood kernels up to ``negligible'' error terms. Known results include degenerating maps and lead to a group-theoretical principle (made explicit in section 1). The author proves a geometric result about the kernel of the twisting map (Proposition 2), establishing one more case of the general principle.
