The authors show that for a general class of covariant functors from the class of compact spaces to itself one has \(c\bigl({\mathcal F}(X)\bigr)=c(X^\omega)\). These functors must be normal in the sense of \textit{E. V. Shchepin} [Russ. Math. Surv. 36, No. 3, 1-71 (1981); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 36, No. 3(219), 3-62 (1981; Zbl 0463.54009)] and subject to a degree condition specified in the present paper. Prototypical examples are \(\exp\) (hyperspace), \(\lambda\) (superextension) and \(P\) (space of probability measures). There are examples to show that very few of the conditions that make up normality can be relaxed.
