Two applications of a three critical points theorem (Q678065)

Using variational methods, the authors prove the existence of two nontrivial solutions for an asymptotically linear beam equation and for a noncooperative superquadratic elliptic system. The solutions are obtained via two applications of the linking theorem generalized to the strongly indefinite case via a Galerkin procedure. Estimates on the geometry of the linkings are needed to make sure that the two nontrivial critical levels are different.
