Estimates for the curvature of a submanifold which lies inside a tube (Q678192)

Let \(\varphi: N\to M\) be an isometric immersion of a complete Riemannian manifold \(N\) into a Riemannian manifold \(M\), with scalar curvature bounded below. Assume that the image \(\varphi(N)\) lies inside a tubular neighborhood \(\tau(P,\lambda)\) of radius \(\lambda\) around a submanifold \(P\) of \(M\). Under some appropriate conditions, the author works out a generalization of some inequalities for bounded isometric immersions obtained by \textit{L. Jorge} and \textit{D. Koutroufiotis} [Am. J. Math. 103, 711-725 (1981; Zbl 0472.53055)]. Related results have been obtained by \textit{Th. Hasanis} and \textit{D. Koutroufiotis} [Arch. Math. 40, 82-85 (1983; Zbl 0486.53041)] when \(M\) is the Euclidean space and \(P\) is a vector subspace, and \textit{Y. Kitagawa} [Kodai Math. J. 7, 185-191 (1984; Zbl 0554.53037)].
