The authors apply the generalized quasilinearization method of \textit{V. Lakshmikantham} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 27, No. 2, 223-227 (1996; Zbl 0855.34012)]\ together with an extended method of their own to the first-order scalar initial value problem, \[ x'(t)=f(t,x),\quad x(0)=x_0,\quad t\in[0,T] \] and obtain rapid convergence of monotone sequences to the unique solution of the initial value problem under certain assumptions of hyperconvexity or -concavity on \(f\).
