Let \(G\) be the rank-2 semisimple Lie group \(PSL_2 (\mathbb R) \times PSL_2 (\mathbb R)\). If \(\mathcal O_d\) is the ring of integers in the real quadratic field \(\mathbb Q (\sqrt{d})\), then the associated Hilbert modular group \(PSL_2 (\mathcal O_d)\), regarded as a subgroup of \(G\), is an irreducible non-uniform lattice in \(G\). In this paper, the authors prove that there is a canonical isomorphism between the quasi-isometry group and the commensurator group of an irreducible non-uniform lattice in \(G\). Using this result, they determine the quasi-isometry classes of lattices in \(G\) and show that any finitely generated group that is quasi-isometric to an irreducible non-uniform lattice \(\Lambda\) in \(G\) is a finite extension of an irreducible non-uniform lattice commensurable with \(\Lambda\). They also prove that two irreducible non-uniform lattices in \(G\) are quasi-isometric if and only if they are commensurable.
