Normal/skew-Hermitian splitting iteration methods as inner iteration and the modified Newton method as outer iteration are used. The modified Newton NSS method for solving large sparse nonlinear systems with non-Hermitian positive definite Jacobian matrices is introduced. A local convergence property is proved. Results of numerical experiments are presented.
