Fourth-order curl equations arise in magnetohydrodynamics models and inverse scattering problems. Assuming \(H^3\) regularity for the weak solution of the quad curl problem on a bounded Lipschitz domain \(\Omega\) of \(\mathbb R^3\), [\textit{J. Sun}, Numer. Math. 132, No. 1, 185--200 (2016; Zbl 1342.65222)] proved convergence and error estimations and disclosed that such regularity results are not known. Thus, the goal of the present paper is to prove corresponding regularity results for smooth and non smooth domains. The author transforms the variational formulation in [loc. cit.] into a well-posed augmented problem which is equivalent with the original one when the datum is divergence free. The regularity results are presented for domains: (i) with a smooth boundary, (ii) with edge singularities, (iii) with corner singularities, and (iv) with point singularities.
