The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually. They are listed in the Math. Database. The Proceedings of the 18th International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics (GTMP), held at Moscow, 4-9 June 1990, is dedicated to the memory of the late Andrej Sakharov. Academician Sakharov, a member of the Advisory Committee of the Colloquium, died on the 14th of December 1989. This volume opens with a very personal tribute to Sakharov, written by his friend Boris Altshuler. GTMP is a major colloquium series, the 18th having 28 plenary talks, 27 review talks, 130 short research talks and 130 poster reports. Let it suffice for me to give the main headings under which the topics fall: I. Spectrum generating groups, dynamical symmetries and their applications; II. Quantum groups and algebras, noncommutative geometry; III. Symmetries of equations and fields; IV. Quantum physics.
