The paper investigates the reconstruction of the time-dependent component of the heat source in the parabolic heat equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions, initial condition and an overdetermination integral observation. The theory (unique solvability) for this liner but ill-posed inverse problem is available in the book by Prilepko et al. (2000), but this paper investigates several conjugate gradient methods for retrieving a convergent an stable solution. Fractional-order models are also mentioned.
