Block pulse functions \(\varphi_ 1,\dots,\varphi_ m\) on an interval \([0,T]\) divided into \(m\) equidistant parts are \([1 0\dots 0],\dots,[0 0\dots 1]\) on the interval. They form the basis for mean square error piecewise constant approximation of a continuous function. This transform is linear and induces some operational calculus. The properties of this calculus are derived and further compared with some other calculi. The arguments for this calculus introduction are numerical, nevertheless there is nowhere mentioned that numerical integration with fixed step may be very inefficient. The basic notion of control systems -- the stability is unmentioned.
