    The Cauchy problem \(y'' = f(x,y)\), \(y(x_ 0) = y_ 0\), \(y'(x_ 0) = y_ 0'\) is solved by means of a two-step method: \(y_{n,m-j} = y_ n- h^ 2(b_{0,j+1}f_{n+1} + b_{1,j+1}f_{n,m-1} + b_{0,j+1}f_{n- 1})\), \(a_ 0y_{n+1} + a_ 1y_ n + a_ 0y_{n-1} = h^ 2(b_ 0f_{n+1} + b_ 1f_{n,m} + b_ 0f_{n-1})\) where \(j = m-1,m- 2,\dots,0\), \(f_ i = f(x_ i,y_ i)\), \(f_{ni} = f(x_ n,y_{ni})\), \(f_{n0} = f(x_ n,y_ n)\). Two methods for \(m = 3,4\) are given, they are \(P\)-stable, are of the orders eight and ten and have phase-lag of the orders eight and ten, respectively.
