Multigrid convergence for convection-diffusion problems on composite grids (Q686369)

The convergence behaviour of the fast adaptive composite multigrid method applied to convection-diffusion equations is studied. In particular, two- dimensional problems that have its flow velocity oriented in a single coordinate direction are considered. Low and higher order upwind differencing schemes are used. It is shown how to modify the discretization on the coarse-grid level in order to preserve the attractive convergence behaviour predicted by the analysis.
