Schur functions, Schur parameters and orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle (Q686395)

In the present paper the properties of Schur functions, i.e. functions \(f(z)\) analytic in the open unit disk with modulus not exceeding one, and asymptotic behavior of the corresponding Schur parameters are investigated. The reasoning is based on the tight connection between Schur parameters and the reflection coefficients of a certain system of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle. One of the main results of the paper is the following Theorem 5. Let \(f(z)\) be a Schur function. The relation \[ \limsup_{n\to\infty} |\gamma_ n|^{1/n}<1 \] holds iff \(f\) is analytic in the open disk \(\{| z|<1+\varepsilon\}\) for some \(\varepsilon>0\) and \(\sup_{| z|<1} | f(z)|<1\).
