We correct a mistake in a previous paper [ibid. 5, 289-301 (1978; Zbl 0392.90014)] pointed out by \textit{P. K. Dutta} [ibid. 22, No. 2, 101-123 (1993; Zbl 0770.90015)]. As noted by Dutta, the set of attainable terminal stocks allowed in Theorem 1 of our previous paper is too large. Here we propose a more restricted, but economically meaningful concept of attainability, called strong attainability, and show that Theorem 1 is correct if `attainable' is replaced by `strongly attainable'.
