Let \(H\) be an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space; and \(L(H)\) denote the algebra of all bounded linear operators from \(H\) to itself. For each \(T\in L(H)\) let \(T^{tr}\) stand for the transpose of \(T\) with respect to a fixed orthonormal basis of \(H\). Define the reduced minimum modulus function \(\gamma:L(H)\to R_+\cup\{\infty\}\), as: \(\gamma(T)=\inf\{||Tx||; \text{dist}(x,\text{Ker}(T)\ge 1\}\), if \(T\ne 0\) and \(\gamma(T)=\infty\), if \(T=0\).\par Let us introduce the relation \((\sim_u)\) over \(L(H)\) as: \(T (\sim_u) S\) if there are two unitary operators \(U,V\in L(H)\) such that \(S=UTV\). Then, given the bijective linear map \(\Phi\) on \(L(H)\), define an ssociated relation \([\Phi,\gamma]\) over \(L(H)\) as \(T[\Phi,\gamma] S\) if \(\gamma(\Phi(T))=\gamma(\Phi(S))\).\par The main result of this paper is the following\par Theorem: Given the bijective linear map \(\Phi\) on \(L(H)\), the following are equivalent\par (1) for each couple \(T,S\) in \(L(H)\), one has \(T (\sim_u) S\) implies \(T [\Phi,\gamma] S\)\par (2) there exist a nonzero \(\alpha\in C\) and two unitary operators \(U,V\in L(H)\), such that either \(\Phi(T)=\alpha UTV\) (\(T\in L(H)\)), or \(\Phi(T)=\alpha UT^{tr}V\) (\(T\in L(H)\)).\par Further aspects occasioned by these developments are also discussed.
