    Assuming the Riemann hypothesis it is known that \[ | \zeta({\textstyle {1\over 2}}+\text{it})|\leq \exp\left(A {{\log t} \over {\log\log t}}\right) \qquad \text{and} \qquad |\arg \zeta({\textstyle {1\over 2}}+ \text{it})|\leq B{{\log t} \over {\log\log t}} \] for \(t\) large enough. The purpose of this paper is to prove these estimates with good values for the constants, namely \(A=0.4665\dots\) and \(B=3.5158\dots\) . This is done by adapting the usual method due to Selberg.
