      Let \(\rho_ M\) and \(\rho_ A\) be the convergence factors of the multiplicative and the additive Schwarz method, respectively. The author proves \(\rho_ M = (2 \rho_ A - 1)^ 2\) in the case of two subdomains and \(\rho_ M \leq (3 \rho_ A - 1)/2\) in the case of three subdomains.
