The following result is the content of this paper: Let \(K\) be a compact metrizable space, \(X\) a separable and completely metrizable space and let \({}^ \omega 2\) denote the Cantor set. Then \(K\times{}^ \omega 2\) embeds into \(X\) iff \(X\) has an uncountable pairwise disjoint family of subspaces each homeomorphic to \(K\). An application is stated which solves positively Lelek's Problem 15 published in [\textit{A. Lelek}, Colloq. Math. 23, 93-98 (1971; Zbl 0221.54032)].
