Consider a sequence \((P_ n)_{n\geq 0}\) of orthogonal polynomials given recursively by \(P_ 0=1\), \[ P_ 1(x)=2 \sqrt{\alpha\gamma} x+1- \alpha-\gamma \qquad \text{and} \qquad P_ 1 P_ n= a_ n P_{n+1}+ b_ n P_ n +c_ n P_{n-1} \] with \(a_ n,c_ n>0\), \(b_ n\geq 0\), \(a_ n+b_ n+c_ n=1\) and \(\alpha:=\lim a_ n\geq\gamma:= \lim c_ n>0\). If all linearization coefficients of \(P_ m P_ n= \sum^{m+n}_{k= | m-n|} g_{m,n,k} P_ k\) are nonnegative, then the \((P_ n)_{n\geq 0}\) generate a polynomial hypergroup. This paper uses a result of \textit{P. G. Nevai} [Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 213, 1-185 (1985; Zbl 0405.33009)] on orthogonal polynomials of type \(M(0,1)\) and shows that the \(P_ n\) can be written as \[ P_ n=\sum^ n_{k=0} c_{n,k} T_ k \quad \text{with} \quad c_{n,k}\geq 0 \quad \text{ for all }n,k\geq 0 \] where the \(T_ k\) are the Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind. This representation has applications in probability theory; see, for instance, \textit{M. Voit} [J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 50, No. 3, 417-467 (1991; Zbl 0731.60008), Adv. Appl. Probab. 22, No. 1, 68-87 (1990; Zbl 0719.60009) and J. Multivariate Anal. 34, No. 2, 290-322 (1990; Zbl 0722.60021)].
