The authors prove that the complex exceptional group \(E_ 6(\mathbb{C})\) contains exactly one conjugacy class of subgroups isomorphic to \(L(2,13)\) for each of the characters 13+14 and 1+12+14 on the 27-dimensional module for \(E_ 6\). A corresponding subgroup with the character 13+14 is contained in the irreducible closed subgroup of type \(G_ 2\).
