Let \((M,g)\) be a Riemannian manifold and \(\varphi: R\times M\to M\) be a one-parameter group of transformations of \(M\) generated by a vector field \(\xi\), and let \(W\) be a connected submanifold of \(M\) of any codimension. We consider a given function \(f: W\to R\) and denote \(\overline{W}= \psi(W)\), where the map \(\psi: W\to M\) is defined by \[ \psi(q)= \varphi(f(q),q) \] for all \(q\in W\). Suppose \(f\) attains on \(W\) a maximum value. In this situation, the author gives sufficient conditions in terms of mean curvature vectors for \(W\) and \(\overline{W}\) to be congruent modulo \(\varphi\). The method of the proof is based on the maximum principle of the solution of an elliptic differential equation. It should be noted that the author is the first trial for this type of congruence theorem on submanifolds of any codimension.
