New characterizations of topological conditional entropy for actions of amenable groups (Q6907619)

Various notions of expansiveness, `weak expansiveness' in particular, are known to imply the existence of a maximal measure for a compact topological dynamical system, meaning a measure whose entropy coincides with the topological entropy from work of \textit{R. Bowen} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 164, 323--331 (1972; Zbl 0229.28011); Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 184, 125--136 (1974; Zbl 0274.54030)] and others. The main results here extend this picture to the setting of amenable group actions. Extending ideas of \textit{M. Misiurewicz} [Stud. Math. 55, 175--200 (1976; Zbl 0355.54035)] new characterizations of weak expansiveness for this setting are found using topological conditional entropy and this is shown to be sufficient to ensure the existence of a maximal measure. Recent results relating Bowen's notion of dimensional entropy to topological entropy due to \textit{D. Zheng} and \textit{E. Chen} [Isr. J. Math. 212, No. 2, 895--911 (2016; Zbl 1364.37043)] (using measure-theoretic methods) and by \textit{D. Dou} and \textit{R. Zhang} [Topol. Methods Nonlinear Anal. 51, No. 2, 599--608 (2018; Zbl 1395.37012)] (using topological methods) in the amenable group action setting are also extended.
