The authors give new upper bounds for the notion of topological complexity introduced in [\textit{M. Farber}, Discrete Comput. Geom. 29, No. 2, 211--221 (2003; Zbl 1038.68130)]. These upper bounds are defined for rational spaces in terms of their Sullivan models and are used in the paper to establish Ganea-type formulae in some cases.
