Let \(G\) be a compact Lie group and let \(X\) be a finite \(G\)-CW complex. The author proves the analogue of the Atiyah-Segal completion theorem for twisted equivariant \(K\)-theory \(K^\tau_G(-)\) where \(\tau\) is a twisting corresponding to an element of \(H^1_G(X; \mathbb{Z}/2)\oplus H^3_G(X; \mathbb{Z})\). The theorem can be stated as follows: let \(EG\) be a universal cover of \(BG\), then the projection \(\pi : EG\times X \to X\) induces an isomorphism \[ K^{\tau + *}_G(X) ^{\widehat{ \;\, }}_{I_G} \overset{\approx}{\longrightarrow} K^{\pi^*(\tau)+*}_G(EG\times X) \] where \((-)^{\widehat{ \;\, }}_{I_G}\) indicates the completion with respect to the augumentation ideal \(I_G \subset R(G)\). The proof is done in two steps. The author first proves the theorem for a twisting arising from a graded central extension of \(G\) by the circle group \(\mathbb{T}\) and then shows that the general case of the theorem can be deduced from this result for the special class of twistings via a Mayer-Vietoris argument.
