The main objective of the paper is to demonstrate equivalence of the fuzzy topologies defined in three papers [\textit{H. Lai} and \textit{D. Zhang}, Fuzzy Sets Syst. 157, No. 14, 1865--1885 (2006; Zbl 1118.54008); \textit{D. S. Yeung} et al., ``On the generalization of fuzzy rough sets'', IEEE Trans. Fuzzy Syst. 13, 343--361 (2005) and \textit{K. Qin} and \textit{Z. Pei}, Fuzzy Sets Syst. 151, No. 3, 601--613 (2005; Zbl 1070.54006)]. More precisely the authors show that the family of fuzzy preorders on a given set is equivalent to the family of all fuzzy topologies on this set satisfying an extra condition differently formulated in these three papers. In the first and second paper cited above the triangular norm may have an arbitrary form, in the third one it is the min t-norm; thus to compare the results the authors interpret them only for this t-norm. All these papers are contributions to the discussion on the relationships between rough set theory and fuzzy set theory with topology defined by a Kuratowski saturated closure operation.
