Algebraic cycles on the generic abelian fourfold with polarization of type (1,2,2,2) (Q691978)

The author constructs a non-torsion element in the higher Griffiths group \(\mathrm{Griff}^{3,2}(A^4)\), where \(A^4\) is a generic abelian fourfold with polarization of type (1,2,2,2). ``Generic'' is used in the sense of being outside of a countable union of proper Zariski-closed subsets of the moduli space of abelian fourfolds. The author considers ramified double covers of genus 3 curves by genus 7 curves. A key fact is that \(A^4\) is a generalized Prym variety associated to such a double cover.
