The problem of laminar flow and heat transfer of a grade fluid between metal wire and conical die is concerned. First, a set of dimensionless equations governing laminar flow and heat transfer is given as well as dimensionless boundary conditions. The concept of a perturbation method is then introduced into the equations, thus the solutions of second-order velocity and temperature are obtained for the constant viscosity case, while for the case of temperature dependent viscosity, the Reynolds' model and Vogel's model are employed to obtain the corresponding solutions of velocity and temperature. Through several art-lines, the reasonable results of velocity and temperature profiles with changing Brinkman number, viscosity parameter and perturbation parameter are described. Overview, although the methods and models are not new, they are applied into a particular problem successfully and the findings of the concerned problem may be referred to further research.
