Let \(\Delta\) denote a finite simplicial complex of dimension \(d-1\) with vertex set \(V\). For a field \(K\) let \(K[\Delta]\) denote the Stanley-Reisner ring. Let \(0 \leq t < d\) denote an integer. Then \(\Delta\) is called \(CM_t\) over \(K\) provided \(\Delta\) is pure and the link \(\mathrm{lk}_{\Delta}(\sigma)\) is Cohen-Macaulay over \(K\) for any \(\sigma \in \Delta\) with at least \(t\) elements. For a positive integer \(k\) and a nonnegative integer \(t\) the simplicial complex \(\Delta\) is called \(k-CM_t\) of dimension \(r\) if for any subset \(W \subset V\) (including \(W = \emptyset\)) with less than \(k\) elements the simplicial complex \(\Delta_{V\setminus W}\) is \(CM_t\) of dimension \(r\) over \(K\). In analogy to the Cohen-Macaulay and Buchsbaum complexes there are characterizations of \(CM_t\) complexes in terms of the vanishing of singular homologies of its links resp. its geometric realization. Moreover it is shown that a complex is \(k-CM_t\) if and only if the links of its non-empty faces are \(k-CM_{t-1}\). There are also results on the \(k-CM_t\)-property of skeletons. This generalizes results of \textit{N. Terai} and \textit{T. Hibi} [J. Algebr. Comb. 6, No. 1, 89--93 (1997; Zbl 0871.55015)] and \textit{M. Miyazaki} [J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 30, No. 3, 367--392 (1990; Zbl 0723.13002)].
