One of the generalizations of continued fractions in the case of many variables are branched continued fractions. The theory of branched continued fractions (BCF) was initiated in the works of V.Ya. Skorobogat'ko and was actively developed by his successors. In the general case, a BCF is an expression \[ b_0+\mathop{\mathrm{D}}_{k=1}^\infty \sum_{i_k=1}^N \frac{a_{i(k)}}{b_{i(k)}}= b_0+\sum_{i_1=1}^N \frac{a_{i_1}}{ b_{i_1}+\sum_{i_2=1}^N \frac{a_{i(2)}}{ b_{i(2)}+ \ddots}} \] where \(N \in \mathbb{N}\) and \(i(k)=i_1i_2\dots i_k\) is a multiindex. Let \[ L(\mathbf{z})=\sum_{k,l=0}^\infty (-1)^{k+l}s_{kl} z_1^k z_2^l, \] where \( s_{kl}\in \mathbb{R}\), \( \mathbf{z}=(z_1,z_2) \in \mathbb{C}^2\), be a formal double power series of functions of two complex variables. The method of expanding a function \(L(\mathbf{z})\) into a two-dimensional continued fraction of the special form \[ \frac{s_0}{ \Phi_0(z_1)+\mathop{\mathrm{D}}_{n=1}^\infty \frac{ g_{0n}(1-g_{0,n-1})z_2}{\Phi_n(z_1)}}, \qquad \Phi_n=1+\mathop{\mathrm{D}}_{k=1}^\infty \frac{g_{kn}(1-g_{k-1,n})z_1}{1}, \quad n \geq 0, \] is studied in this paper. This two-dimensional continued fraction will not be a branched continued fraction of general form. It will be a continued fraction of the variable \(z_2\) with partial denominators which are continued fractions of the variable \(z_1\). This two-dimensional continued fraction is not symmetric with respect to the variables \(z_1,z_2\). Several theorems are proved in the paper. An algorithm for constructing the corresponding two-dimensional continued fraction is proposed. Some numerical examples are given. The bibliography contains 19 sources.
