It is shown that for a class of \(C^1\) expanding maps on Cantor sets and suitable normalized Hölder continuous potentials, their Gibbs measures can be recovered as noncommutative measures from certain spectral triples. The key step in the proof is a relation between the eigenvalues asymptotics of the arising Dirac operator and spectral properties of transfer operators. Related results have been found independently by \textit{T. Samuel} in his PhD thesis [A commutative noncommutative fractal geometry. St Andrews: St Andrews University (PhD Thesis) (2010)].
