The authors consider a homogeneous local Poisson bracket of degree \(k\) on the formal loop space of a smooth \(n\)-dimensional manifold \(M,\) of the form \N\[\N\{u^i(x), u^j(y)\} = g^{ij}(u(x)) \delta^{(k)}(x-y) +\sum_{s=0}^{k-1} h^{ij}_{(s)l}(u(x)) u^{l,k-s}(x) \delta^{(s)}(x-y) +\cdots,\N\]\Nwhere the dots denote higher-order terms in the variables \(u^{i,s}.\) The coefficients \(h^{ij}_{(s)l}\) are known to transform as Christoffel symbols and they define \(k\) standard connections \(\nabla^{(s)}.\) With the exception of \(\nabla^{(0)},\) the other \(k-1\) connections are in general not flat. The main result of this work is that with \N\[\Nc^{t}_{s} = (-1)^t \binom{k+s-t}{k} \binom{k} {t},\N\]\Nthe following formula \N\[\N\nabla^{[s]} = \sum_{t=0}^{s} c^{t}_{s} \nabla^{(t)}\N\]\Nfor \(s=0,\cdots, k-1\) defines \(k\) connections which are all flat. The proof of this result is a by-product of the computation of the Poisson cohomology of the homogeneous Poisson brackets.
