      A topological group \(G\) is called \(\mathbb R\)-factorizable if, for every continuous function \(f:G\to \mathbb R\) there exists a continuous homomorphism \(h:G\to H\) to a second-countable topological group \(H\) and a continuous function \(g:H\to \mathbb R\) such that \(f=g\circ h\).\N\N\textit{M. G. Tkachenko} [Topology Appl. 38, No. 1, 21--37 (1991; Zbl 0722.54039)] asked if the class of \(\mathbb R\)-factorizable groups is closed under taking finite products.\N\NThe question has been solved in [\textit{E. Reznichenko}, Topology Appl. 345, Article ID 108837, 7 p. (2024; Zbl 1543.54014); \textit{O. Sipacheva}, ``No subgroup theorem for the covering dimension of topological groups'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2303.04593}].\N\NThe author constructs two zero-dimensional Boolean Hausdorff \(\mathbb R\)-factorizable groups \(G_1\) and \(G_2\) where \(G_1\times G_2\) is not \(\mathbb R\)-factorizable. She notes certain additional properties of the groups \(G_1\) and \(G_2\).
