The authors study finite-index right-angled Artin subgroups of two-dimensional right-angled Coxeter groups. They focus on the constructive problem of finding subgraphs in the complement of the Coxeter graph that yield such subgroups via a procedure of \textit{P. Dani} and \textit{I. Levcovitz} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 24, No. 2, 755--802 (2024; Zbl 1540.20069)]. In the \(2\)-dimensional triangle-free case, they show this existence is equivalent to a graph property called satellite-dismantlability, which leads to an algorithm to find these subgroups or decide none exist. The work provides new insights and an efficient method to recognize when a right-angled Coxeter group contains a finite-index right-angled Artin subgroup.
