The paper develops a new framework for studying finiteness properties of generalized Thompson groups through combinatorial-topological structures known as \textit{expansion sets}. Building upon earlier work by \textit{B. Hughes} and the author [J. Comb. Algebra 8, No. 3--4, 279--357 (2024; Zbl 1550.20085)], the approach starts from an abstract simplicial complex determined by data \((B, X, \mathrm{supp}, \mathcal{E})\), where \(B\) is a collection of building blocks equipped with support and expansion rules.\N\NThe central object of analysis is the full-support complex \(\Delta_B^f\), whose vertices are finite families of pairwise disjoint elements of \(B\) that cover \(X\) and whose simplices arise via controlled expansion sequences. Under a set of general conditions -- contractibility of ascending links, bounded stabilizers and orbit types and two forms of contraction control -- the author proves a general finiteness result (Theorem~3.16), establishing that the acting group \(\Gamma\) is of type~\(F_\infty\).\N\NThe method is applied to the Thompson groups of \(F\), \(T\) and \(V\), to the Brin-Thompson groups \(nV\), to the group of Röver and to the Lodha-Moore group. In each case, the approach either recovers or simplifies known proofs of type~\(F_\infty\), replacing ad hoc constructions with a uniform combinatorial criterion.
