Let \((W, S)\) be a Coxeter system of rank \(n\), with growth function \(p(W, S)(t)\). It is known that \(p(W, S)(q^{-1}) < \infty\) for all integers \(q \geq n\). This paper improves the bound under the assumption that \((W, S)\) is 2-spherical: Theorem~A shows that \(p(W, S)(\frac{1}{n-1}) < \infty\) still holds. Conversely, if the Coxeter diagram is complete and \(m_{st} \geq 3\) for all \(s \ne t\), then \(p(W, S)(\frac{1}{n-2}) = \infty\) (Theorem~C), proving the bound optimal.\N\NThe proof combines descent set analysis with inequalities for the cardinalities of specific subsets \(C_i\) and \(D_i\) in \(W\) and relies on a monotonicity result of \textit{T. Terragni} [Groups Geom. Dyn. 10, No. 2, 601--618 (2016; Zbl 1356.20023)] to reduce to universal Coxeter systems. Applications include new examples of twin building lattices in rank 3 (Corollary~B) and obstructions for their subdiagrams (Corollary~D).
