The chapter lies within the entire scope of approximation theory, with an open eye on the functional applied framework. Given a signal, can we approximate it appropriately with modes or harmonics supported within its support?\N\NThe chapter overviews the theory of spectral synthesis, showing its equivalence to the theme or the object of the study. In such a context, Haar wavelets are reviewed with their link to the subject.\N\NBeurling's and Wiener's theory of spectral synthesis of Banach algebras is shown to be an alternative to approximation theory, responding to the condition of approximants' supports being contained in the support of the approximated signal. In wavelet theory, we know that this assumption may not be guaranteed, such as non-compactly supported wavelets, and also boundary matters for compactly supported wavelets. The author here shows, however, that some cases of wavelets may fulfil this assumption with suitable modifications for some $L^p$ spaces. The chapter opens the path for many applications in signal and communication, and may be an interesting reference for researchers.\N\NFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1568.01005].
