Infinite-dimensional compact quantum semigroup (Q694436)

The authors construct a compact semigroup structure on the Toeplitz algebra \(\mathcal{T}\) and show that this structure is close to a weak Hopf algebra structure. If \(\mathcal{K}\) is the algebra of compact operators, they show that the subalgebra \(\mathcal{S}=(\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{K})^\ast\) of the dual \(\mathcal{T}^\ast\) is isomorphic to the algebra of regular Borel measures on the circle with convolution product. It is furthermore shown that there exist Haar functionals on both \(\mathcal{S}\) and \(\mathcal{T}^\ast\).
